one session of tennis, 2-3 hours.
1 week of tennis, 2-3 sessions, average 6-7 hours.
1 month, approximately 25 hours.
one year, 300 hours.

every 10 hours of tennis, re-grip.
every 20 hours of tennis, restring.
every year, 30 over grips and 15 strings.

each over grip costs $2+, each string $35+.

every year, $585++ spent on tennis.

wtf now i regret calculating the cost of my pastime shyt.

i am a believer, in the sense that i believe in believing.
and today i would like to touch on my belief in simplicity.

as we grow we realize the complex tendency of human nature, and as such my appreciation in genuineness & simplicity has, perhaps not-so-recently, grown exponentially.

i cannot emphasize on the beauty of living simply while being true. much as competition drives society forward, i am of the opinion that satisfaction derived from personal achievements will never be as heartwarming as that derived from being home for a meal (yes i miss home shit).

when we look at people we judge them one way or another, subconscious or not. some judge based on looks, some first impression, some based on interaction, and some, on expressions. i think i would fall somewhere in the category under interaction and expression.

i find it essential to look for a person's heart when i interact. sure, pretty faces stand out, but from there on its a negative gradient (lol). is that pretty face genuine? or does she have an intent? that is the difference between a beauty and an eye-candy.

the magnificence of simplicity relates to life as well.

being part of an overcrowded community i've learnt to appreciate serenity. serenity is not about the control that comes with it, but the raised awareness you have on your surroundings. once a while i recharge myself by emptying my mind and listening. it gently reminds me that life is not about myself, but the people around me. put it simply, it is easier to be happy together than to be happy alone.

this places simplicity at the fore once again, hence i would say the key to happiness is genuineness with cautious optimism.

so laugh my friend, laugh like you really mean it. dont patronize when you do, because you know that smile doesnt last. harharharhar, harharhar...?

4 tests over the next 7 days #($&#*@^$@#!!!

i took up hall dance instead of hall tennis captaincy. hope i did the right thing =/

its unbelievable how some people can become so plastic all of a sudden for stupid reasons. pretty much shows the child in them and pulls them straight down the pecking order. noob.

oh, and i released kong ming deng for the first time last friday. absolutely epic, LOL.
thank god LEOR exists. aside from my overseas trips they've been the best thing that happened to me this year. i cannot imagine uni life without them :)

life's getting difficult here.

Saturday, September 03, 2011

was at the interchange waiting for a bus this fine day, and happened to witness a most nostalgic sight. queuing in front of me were a middle-aged mother with two primary school boys. the mother appeared troubled, and didnt have a smile on her face. yet she was holding a plate of french fries at her waist level, while the two kids pinched away at the plate of finger food, grinning ear to ear.

it reminded me of my childhood days.

much as i disliked the methods used, today would not have been if not for yesterday. i cannot deny that they have been effective in nurturing my siblings and i. perhaps the mental scars will never go away, but i know for sure that the positives outweigh its opponents.

and for these i have a deepest regret. a regret that will perhaps stay with me well into my grey years. for the psychological impact i made in that short outburst i had, no words or tears can wash away my sins.

my dear rantboard, would you ever understand the pain i carry?
