SR vs JJ tennis

tied at 2-2 atm. last singles match for SR vs JJ not just decides whos the winner, but also who gets past the qualifiers. its in this kind of situation when all go emo, and the pressure piles up on our captain, who happens to play against a real tough nut. much is on the line for JJ. not about getting to play more, or just the usual glory of winning. should the captain win it'll be a breakthrough for JJ tennis, and the first time in history JJC tennis ever made it to the top 8. its like setting a limestone record for others to follow. they're the first to come this far, its a real pity to watch em all fall now. pray for the best to jj tennis.

yet another classic example why the captain is all-important.

ever wondered why tennis isnt popular nor successful in jj? its not really about glory, since squash hockey etc havnt won anything recently. its not about passion, theres so many joining the recreational tennis. link em all. its all about publicity.

you put up a notice on the board asking some bunch to come along and trial on a specific time and date. after that you leave things at that's that, except for some occasional scouting. recreational tennis has a coach that doesnt really let the players feel they're well taught nor taken care of, and sch tennis team has a coach that is inferior in skills to the sch's badminton coach, who was supposed to coach the tennis team back then, and the reason he went badminton was because people of authorities wanted it that way. what message does that relay to us students, especially those who wanted to pick up tennis? then of course, what is tennis without girls' tennis? a reason people play sports is to wow girls. and if it so happens that theres hardly any girls around to wow, theres not quite much reason for guys not to pursue other sports which has girls' sch team. lets face it. having a girls' sch team really brings up the popularity of that particular sport in the sch, and even more so for tennis!! dont wanna go into details but its quite a big issue for teenagers my age :D

im really hoping that jj tennis makes it past the qualifiers this year. it'll pretty much give tennis some of the much-needed publicity it really lacks, and perhaps make those authorities let us have that little edge over badminton...! (i dont mean the coaching skills, dont know how good the current coach is. i mean that coach is also quite an attraction 0_0)

im thinking, for next year,
-GIRLS TEAM PLS. NUMBER ONE ISSUE. just gotta get a bunch of girls interested in tennis, say 13, and PLAY BALL. they dont have to be good. they're more of attractions =/
-promote tennis by setting up more posters than the current year's and place them in places that are WAY LESS ULU than this year's. a loudspeaker like MELVIN KONG(hehehe) advertising on the grandstand during assembly with the mike for 3 straight days would be really good. a week would be darn good. also let the people know who to find should they be unable to make it on trial day.
-that certain gosu someone for a coach?? attraction tactic. attract girls, whom attract boys. THERE U GO, A LIVELY TENNIS TEAM.

let us continue brainstorming for more alternatives. rational ones lol.

actually im thinking, since the coach cancels training during wet-weather, why not turn it into some physical-conditioning period? it'll be really good to have something rather than nothing for a training.

gah. why am i wasting my time here. ciao, PI sucks.

the way things are going, thought it seemed a little off-course. the following might seem kinda wrong to some. simply coz perhaps our opinions differ.

in groups, there are bound to be conflicts. most succumb to them and break off, while the minority conquer them.

in "most",
theres some individuals who become the cause of the breakup because they cannot get what they want, and things just dont go right when two in a group want the same thing, much like those individuals. then of course, its hard to find a group containing a bunch of ppl with similar aspirations. not forgetting, people have preferences and some just dislike this some other guy/girl in the group.

these often lead to the conflicts and the breakup of the groups.

in "minority",
people may not have have the similar aspirations, they may not like a certain someone in the group. people here are almost the same as those in the above group. but what brings them that far? for that, i believe in only one word. Sacrifices.

its not every time we can get what we want, and not every time others go our way. simply because we dont control the act of others. but think about it, what makes life interesting?

its others. as long as there are others around, life's interesting. friends, people we meet, those we like, and even those we detest. they play such a pivotal role in our lives its quite tough to imagine a world with just one sole human being. theres no way i can say my life is better off without #### in my life juz coz we simply dont mix, thus im better off w/o him/her and so is he/she w/o me. they say those who understand u other than your parents, are your best friend and your worst enemy. i find that pretty true. have a few examples here but quite irrelevant so shant mention =/. ANYWAY, a group will always have conflicts, its just how much the ppl within are willing to sacrifice. you cant just say "this group has so much conflict and thus i should go join another group which i know i can definitely get into." personally i'd say that its kinda immature but i guess we're all teenagers, and i tend to make this mistake too. its not all bout the leader, his/her job to settle disputes and all. a good team leader is a good team member. a good team leader is nothing without its members.

first off, you cant guarantee that the other group would've ppl who arent like those in the current group. you may not enjoy success even in a different environment.

2ndly, if one decided to join the group but pull out halfway through by reconsidering his/her other options due to pressure and temptations then what is the difference between him/her and a quitter?

third, if you're not prepared to make sacrifices for a small group of people then how are you going to prepare for National Service? a platoon with 20+ ppl?? lets not forget theres always the society after we grow up.

4th, ask yourself why you're in the group, or why you joined in the first place. if its just to look or sound cool then at least make some effort to make it seem that way. otherwise, its really not cool to go group-hogging. its not all bout the leader, his/her job to settle disputes and all. a good team leader is a good team member. a good team leader is nothing without its members.

are we ready to play tennis for real? without effort and sacrifices, theres no way things are going to work out. so dont go around saying so-and-so is waiting for me if things dont work out. it doesnt make sense.

ok after all the whines lets have some laugh :)

im doubting the efficiency of a certain organization nearby. just how many times are they going to postpone my checkup? well perhaps theres some out there more needy than me.

leg condition recently: intense blublack-like sensation on a specific spot towards the right of my shin when pressed, yet no visible indications of an injury unless touched. internal sharp pain near the back of the knee occasionally when moving, cracking of ankle bones much like those of knuckles, except unintentional. perfect condition during physical conditioning, however.
so weird -.-

recently whenever i receive money from my parents i've this nostalgic feeling, telling me to treasure them well. is it coz im not spending my allowances properly or coz i cant bear to spend them? some things i dont seem to understand, as always -.-

i severely need some general knowledge. any ideas?

A Good Way to Study Economics

1. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and say:"I am very rich. Marry me!"
That's Direct Marketing.

2. You're at a party with a bunch of friends and see a gorgeous girl. One of your friends goes up to her and pointing at you says: "He's very rich. Marry him."
That's Advertising.

3.You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and get her telephone number. The next day, you call and say: "Hi, I'm very rich. Marry me."
That's Telemarketing.

4. You're at a party and see gorgeous girl. You get up and straighten your tie, you walk up to her and pour her a drink, you open the door (of the car)for her, pick up her bag after she drops it, offer her ride and then say: "By the way, I'm rich. Will you marry me?"
That's Public Relations.

5. You're at a party and see gorgeous girl. She walks up to you and say: "You are very rich! Can you marry me?"
That's Brand Recognition.

6. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and say: "I am very rich. Marry me!" She gives you a nice hard slap on your face.
That's Customer Feedback.

7. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and say: "I am very rich. Marry me!" And she introduces you to her husband.
That's demand and supply gap.

8. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and before you say anything, another person come and tell her: "I'm rich. Will you marry me?" and she goes with him.
That's competition eating into your market share.

9. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and before you say: "I'm rich, Marry me!" your wife arrives.
That's barrier to entry.

10. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and say: "I am very rich. Marry me!". Another guy with flowers said: "I am richer. Marry me!"
That's absolute advantage.

11. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and say, "I'm very rich. Marry me!" Her equally gorgeous friend tags along for the rest of the night.
That's economies of scale.

12. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and say, "I'm very rich. Marry me!" Two years later, you have kids.
That's the multiplier effect.

so cool, so fun! now im so interested in econs :D

paranoia

reality check: is everything going well?

look 4 months back. when jc life just began, all was well, with minimal hiccups, disagreements were virtually non-existent. kept in contact, braved those days of adapting to an entirely different environment.

look 3 months back, i found going to sch a chore, and ignoring all advices, withdrew.

look 2 months back, settled upon a common destination, hoping to continue like we were.

look 1 month back, joy and all were abundant, thought life would be fun with all the companions. hung around, talked about the times we had, had a good laugh.

now here we stand, finding ourselves missing those 1st 2 months we had, seeming so hard to relive those days of a brat, missing all the supposedly promised laughter. left me pondering if its just my EQ, or have i done anything wrong or insulting, but at the bottomline, im just lost. without any known reason, theres just this dense awkward air around.

"instead of whining about others, why not be kinder." yeah. weird concept, but i find it true.

its more than just one alone.

Commentators

my dad commented recently after i said i wanted to get another racket that "im just trying to compete with my friends whos more 'in'."

i feel i've reached a stage in life where i dont think i need to compete with nor copy anyone, however tempting and inferior i might feel. its kind of stupid and childish to fool myself into thinking that im better cuz "they're just better equipped than me", and so i should "get something on par with them". with all the limitations im forced against when compared to those around me i have neither the human resources nor intention to. and i know better than to try. if i didnt feel that im not comfortable with, or that i need, certain things, i wouldnt even bother to ask everyone for their opinions whether i should get it. and one thing i seriously hated since young was to COPY, though due to the way im living right now i've been forced by MYSELF to do it here in JJC. juggle sch, work and fun is just, so fun.

so tuck these accusations aside before commenting any further.

perhaps i lack some common knowledge here and there, nor can i read minds, but sometimes, ppl are just so obvious when it comes to opinion of others and, sometimes, the reasons for them - however much they hide. well, maybe after those few years observing (i thank my grandfather for this tip. a really valuable advice.) perhaps, and a really big PERHAPS, i've grown used to it. still, even if one knows all these and how others feel, it might not be enough to understand the entire situation. afterall, trying to answer the question on "Why do people do what they do" is a futile attempt even Clotaire Rapaille, the man who specializes in this area, cannot score full marks for.

ok whatever. anyway, its sooner than later that my mind paves way for all these emotions bottled up within, given this short-tempered character of mine. well, at least thats what i predict. and though i know ppl are used to it, but there isnt a need to ride on the wave every single time i make a silly mistake. the bare minimum here would be to laugh with me about it. that is, by far, the most comforting.

sometimes instead of running away from a time bomb as fast as possible or throwing it out of sight, one should prolly try to diffuse it. it might just save everyone's lives.

"or kill the guy who attempted FIRST."

just another typical singapore mindset.

selling CTSS Carnival Tickets @ $8 per set!!

normal price $10.

buy from JiN Yi = lose $8 = -$8
buy from any other seller = lose $10 = -$10
applying simple mathematics,
(-$8) - (-$10)=$2.
therefore amount saved buying from JiN Yi = $2.

its a good bargain considering all the stuff you can do over at CTSS during the carnival!
dunk ppl into water woo!

plus, with that $2 saved, you could:
-exchange for a meal somewhere and fill your stomach.
-exchange for ringgit and get 2 meals in malaysia.
-exchange for renmingbi and learn how to splash money like the china ppl.
-exchange for rupiah and feel asdfing rich for a brief brainless moment.
-exchange for an hour of LAN and get addicted to computer games.
-exchange for some sweet, work that tongue and stay awake (especially useful during JC lectures. RECOMMENDED.)
-exchange for some recordable CDs and gain a 100% percentage profit by embarking in piracy.
-exchange for a smile by giving it to a certain needy someone and embrace some satisfying sensation of humanity.
-exchange for more CTSS carnival tickets and have fun / more fun.
-sell the ticket at original price aka $10(thats if you can), and earn a profit of $2, then whereby you can make any of the above 9 exchanges at the cost of nothing.
-otherwise, buy 2 sets of tickets from me and sell them at a more reasonable price @ $9, then whereby you also gain $2, and can make any of the above 9 exchanges, also for the price of nothing.

cmon, its a damn bluddy good deal.
you know it.

to contact reseller, please follow the following steps like any follower would follow the person hes supposed to follow blindly.

shift your head 9-15cm to the left perpendicular to the screen without changing the direction of your eyeballs, then attempt to spot a white-dominated tagboard somewhere there. this step should take about 15nanoseconds, otherwise you're an idiot and am nothing when compared to the reseller's intellect.

now for the next step. TRY, to find and differentiate 3 boxes, preoccupied by one word each, namely "name", "email/ url", "message". this step is the toughest of them all and should take about barely one decisecond.

moving on, fill in the boxes "name" and "email/ url" with the appropriate stuff. you dont need me to teach you. approximate time taken one microsecond.

once done, replace "message" with " *your full name here* has no brains and would like to make some cheapskate business with JiN. " knowing that interested parties would be very willing to type in that statement, this step should take just about one centisecond.

see? so easy to order from JiN. less than one second required.
only 3-4 sets left. hurry, while stocks last.

*a little side note, this deal here is for real and no joke. disinterested parties should shoo off and not smurf anyone nor should he/she pranktag the tagboard."

FOR THE GODFORSAKEN SAKE OF CTSS LOVE JUST BUY FROM ME, DAMIT!!!
YOU KNOW YOU VERY WELL GOSHDARN WANT TO.

IM SURE.

Pieces

I tried to be perfect
But nothing was worth it
I don’t believe it makes me real
I’d thought it’d be easy
But no on believes me
I meant all the things that I said

If you believe it’s in my soul
I’d say all the words that I know
Just to see if it would show
That I'm trying to let you know
That I’m better off on my own

This place is so empty
My thoughts are so tempting
I don’t know how it got so bad
Sometimes it’s so crazy that nothing could save me
But it’s the only thing that I have

If you believe it’s in my soul
I’d say all the words that I know
Just to see if it would show
That I'm trying to let you know
That I’m better off on my own

(on my own!)

I tried to be perfect
It just wasn’t worth it
Nothing could ever be so wrong
It’s hard to believe me
It never gets easy
I guess I knew that all along

If you believe it’s in my soul
I’d say all the words that I know
Just to see if it would show
That I'm trying to let you know
That I’m better off on my own

it surprises me, but im not a quitter. thank pjc odac for this lifeskill.
